Oil-Painting Workshop with Charles Miano

Artists of all levels of ability and experience are invited to advance their skills in this
intensive oil-painting workshop. Through classical and contemporary methods, each
artist will create a realist still-life painting in oil. In a naturally lit studio, a spirited but
serene setting, participants will develop their abilities to capture light keys by putting
Impressionist color theories and techniques into action. They will also build on their
knowledge of such fundamentals as composition and proportion, paint-handling and
brushwork, shapes, values and edges, blocking-in and form modeling. Whether for practical
skills, artistic expression, earnest communication, or a therapeutic outlet… as Monet so
aptly put it: It’s on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we
must dig and delve unceasingly.
Fee: $475 plus model share
