Funding Future Artists
The Medici family of the Italian Renaissance are most famous for their patronage of the arts. Patronage is where a person or family of means sponsors artists. The Medici patronage had a huge impact on art history and the world for hundreds of years to this very day. Their generosity and vision allowed talented artists of lowly means to focus on their learning in the apprentice studios and become working artists contributing to society and culture. Cosimo and Lorenzo de Medici are known for supporting young artists such as Donatello, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli, all whom benefited greatly from their patronage and changed the world.
At Miano Academy, we are focusing our efforts to the support of high-need students and minorities who want to dedicate their education to becoming professional visual artists.
This initiative was conceived by our founder, Charles Miano, who himself has come from a modest, working class background and knows the struggles of young art students first hand. This need-based scholarship fund is designed to help people of humble means, who have the potential and talent to carry on the grand traditions of classical art and achieve their dreams of becoming working professionals in the field.
We believe that by supporting the next generation of skilled artisans we can not only enhance the culture of our community by bringing authenticity and beauty to the world but also change lives by carrying on a tradition of art that had its origins in the Renaissance.
This fund will have a direct impact on our preservation mission to continue the efforts of the Atelier Movement and help artists protect Classical Realism for future generations.
As you know, costs of education can really deter students from pursuing a high degree of craftsmanship in fine art with traditional values. This is especially true for talented individuals who lack the means to fund their tuition.
By becoming a Medici Patron, you may donate at any level or may contribute to a specific student or Apprentice. Funds will go directly to Apprenticeship tuition and supplies. Every donation, of any amount, will support the program of providing individuals of high need with opportunities to study and realize their potential. Naming opportunities are offered for 4-year pledges of at least $3,800 a year or more or a one time gift of $45,600 which is the tuition of a single individuals duration of study in the certificate program at the academy. All the money received from donations goes directly to supporting our recipients of the scholarship.
If you would like to stay involved and monitor the progress of your sponsored artists, arrangements can be made for you to meet and stay in touch with these treasured students. Medici Scholarship applicants can be connected with their patrons.
Donations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits are tax-deductible. This means that when you make a contribution to Miano Academy of Art, you are eligible for a deduction when you file your taxes.
You can donate, either by check at the address below or by using your debit or credit card through our website donate page. If you would like more information, tour our facility or to contribute to the Medici Initiative Scholarship Fund directly, please contact us at this link or you can correspond by mail. A tax receipt will be provided for all gifts.
We are so grateful that you have taken the time to consider donating to our cause of creating a better future for individuals and our culture. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
