Alla Prima Portraiture Workshop with Romel De La Torre
April 14th – 16th, 2014 9:30 AM – 4 PM
This three-day workshop will unfold in a relaxed, fun, and yet, informative and intense, working environment. Each morning Romel will demonstrate his approach to painting a portrait from life by means of a direct and fluid painting style. Strong emphasis will be placed on improving color use, drawing skills, value relationships, and capturing the “feeling” of light.
We will learn to use the elements that make a painting stronger and exciting: creative use of color & edges, visual movement, paint application/ brushwork, distribution of abstract shapes and strong design. Techniques of past great artists like Sargent, Zorn, Sorolla, etc. will also be explored.
All levels are welcome – and as they will be different, the instruction will be individualized for each student’s specific needs.
Be prepared to work hard, make new friends and most of all – have fun.
