You do NOT need to have taken Figure Drawing: Level 1 and Level 2 to sign up for this course
Students may choose to work with Charles’ signature Sanguine pastels set or in charcoal
How easy it is to fall in love with sanguine! There is its soft, reddish hue and the gentle sound it makes on paper. How delicately it builds depth and contrast. The way its earthy tones seem
perfectly suited to capture the warmth of the human character. A truly delightful medium!
Since the Renaissance, artists have been enchanted by the red-hued pigment. Old World Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael used the media to produce stunning portraits that are full of life. Through practice and dedication, they developed techniques that have influenced the world of fine art for years to come.
In this online workshop, Charles Miano will guide you through the process of sketching the figure in motion – you will learn how to use line, weight, and composition to imply motion in your work. Using photos of dancers and athletes, you will discover the key to creating dynamic and lively figure drawings. The aim of this workshop is to capture the power and dynamicism of the human form, and to further develop the understanding of muscular anatomy developed in Figure Drawing Level 2.
