Impressionist Portrait and Figure Painting on the Beach Workshop with John Ebersberger
November 8 – 10, 2013 9:30 AM – 4 PM
This workshop is suitable for all levels of ability and will help the student unlock the mystery of color, and its use in describing light, in portrait and figure painting. John studied with American Impressionist Henry Hensche during the last ten years of Hensche’s life. In this workshop you will be introduced to the unique method of color study developed by Hensche and his mentor, Charles W. Hawthorne at the famed Cape School of Art in Provincetown, MA.
The figure in sunlight is the quinessential Impressionist motif, and Lido Beach in Sarosata is an ideal location for this fun and informative workshop. In addition to color we will explore how to set up the “action” of the figure, proportions of the head and figure, and other aspects of painting a vibrant, realistic, portrait and figure. Instruction will include demos, as well as one-on-one instruction at the easel. John will also provide full-color handouts for students.
Fee: $455 plus model share
